Simple & Chic
As winter wardrobes are replaced by their summer equivalent, the same should be done for make-up. Seasonal changes require different things from beauty products so it is wise to invest in make-up, facial creams and haircare products specifically made for the summer.

Heat and the harmful rays of the sun are the two most important factors that have to be taken into consideration when buying beauty products. As for the type of look to go for, the S/S 2006 catwalk shows sent out mix vibes.

Diane Von Furstenberg (left) for instance choose to accentuate eyes with long eye-lashes and black eye-liner with lips left moist with a hint of colour. A simple look to replicate, it can easily be dressed up by adding gloss on the lips. Celine, on the other hand, transferred attention away from the pouting mouths (of last season) to the eyes — through the use of citrus colours that seemed to mirror the warmth of the sun. Luckily, if you are the type of woman who likes to experiment with colour, you will have a lot to choose from this season. For those of you who don't, you should consider giving eye colour a try. With many of the beauty houses introducing metallic cream versions of powder eye-shadows and blushes, they are much easier to apply. Allowing for more control when applied, cream blushes and eye-shadows do not cake-up and give a more shimmering, fresh look that is perfect for the summer. What's more, as this is the season for weddings, there are plenty of free make-overs available from beauty counters to help you. Book yourself in for an appointment. Don't be shy.

Spring Summer

Now for hair
Heat from the sun. Heat from the blow-dryer. Heat from the ceramic straighteners. Add it all up and what do you get? Dry brittle hair. For this reason, it is worth investing in a good quality conditioning treatment that will penetrate your hair and help replace some of the lost moisture.

The Body Shop's
Brazil Nut Moisture Mask (£10) for dry, damaged and chemically treated hair (that can be left in over-night for maximum results), is perfect for replacing lost moisture in the hair. Likewise, many professional salons now offer intensive hair conditioning treatment to repair damaged hair. (Visit VVF's hair salon stockist's page for contacts).

As for the style, keep it simple like at the Gharani Strok S/S 2006 show (left). Long flowing locks with a hint of curl is perfect for summer as it compliments the feminine dresses on sale on the high street and designer boutiques.
