Stars from the world's of film, fashion, the arts and music, descended on New York City at a special West Chelsea venue for Y-3's presentation for its Spring/Summer 2008 Men's & Women's collection. The event, held on Saturday, the 8th of September during New York Fashion Week, saw the venue constructed exclusively for the occasion.
The show took over an entire city block beneath the historic High Line railway. The location was transformed to provide an atmosphere like that of a raw, industrial space underneath the ground. A dramatic artificial thunderstorm with showers overhead and a blues-inspired soundtrack set the mood for yet another unexpected production.
Approximately 1,000 guests filled the venue, including Samuel L. Jackson, LL Cool J, Mena Suvari, Vincent Gallo, Veronica Webb, Ellen von Unwerth, The Misshapes, Andres Serrano, Chiara Clemente and Waris Ahluwalia.
Celebrating Y-3's five year anniversary, this October, the ongoing success of the brand can be credited to the perfect blend of adidas' expertise and innovation in sport functionality and Yohji Yamamoto's signature sense of style.
Y-3 will commemorate its fifth anniversary and the opening of its first location in Paris with an exclusive in-store event, on the 4th of October, during the Prêt-à-Porter shows.
An additional new store opening in Miami will follow later this year.
